Besides newspapers and magazines and other publication companies, a company may require a proofreader for their trade publication or advertisement, lawyers for their legal documents, and doctors for their medical journals. Anything that is printed, either on paper or online, can be proofread.

In addition to full time jobs, freelancing proofreading jobs are available. Individuals may also seek proofreading services. Students need help with important term papers, job seekers need help with a resume, and authors may want assistance with their novel. In these cases, the pay is usually by the piece and variable. You will need to market your skills to keep a jobs coming and the income steady. When working with individuals, you will need to take extra care to present your corrections gently, since they may be sensitive to criticism.
